...Investigating the Relationship between Migration, Acculturation and Risk of Pediatric Obesity?

We are seeking a research assistant to help with a project investigating the relationship between migration, acculturation to the United States and risk of pediatric obesity.

The Job: Interviews with parents and children in grades 4-6 recruited from San Francisco Catholic Schools in the Mission District of San Francisco. There is a simultaneous study being conducted in the public schools of Tijuana, Mexico.

The Rewards: Authorship of any publications, experience with conducting interviews and taking anthropometric measurements, Microsoft Access/Excel and basic statistics.

The Collaborators: Melvin B. Heyman, MD MPH, UCSF Pediatric GI and Nutrition, Janet M. Wojcicki, PhD MPH, UCSF Pediatric GI and Nutrition.

This is an excellent opportunity for an interested medical student to join a community-based project. Some experience conducting interviews is helpful. Student needs to have conversational abilities in Spanish.
