... Neonatal neurology?
Please contact Dr. Hannah Glass (Hannah.Glass@ucsf.edu)

I am interested in providing research opportunities for motivated and organized medical students that are interested in investigating causes and sequelae of perinatal brain injury. I work with several collaborators to study neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants born preterm, infants who sustained perinatal hypoxia-ischemia and who have cardiac anomalies. My main focus is to understand how magnetic resonance imaging and electroencephalogram can help to predict outcome. The long-term objective is to change practices in the ICN to reduce the burden of motor and cognitive impairment in children who sustained injury.

The job: Opportunities include medical record review, data management, and literature review. Interested students will have a chance to develop their own projects. Students will also have a chance to gain clinical exposure to neonatal intensive care.

The rewards: Experience in clinical research and exposure to leaders in neurology, neonatology and neuroradiology. Students will be encouraged to develop research ideas, to write and present their own abstracts for national meetings, and will be included as authors for any significant contributions to manuscripts.

Collaborators: Dr. Donna Ferriero (child neurology), Dr. Jim Barkovich (radiology), Dr. Patrick McQuillen (PICU).
